The Parameters of Time and Space
A Wellness Reflection By LA Gonzales
The more we think about time and space, the more we see that the parameters we use to constrain our days have become the ultimate measure of our worth. A true realization came as the research began, including Stanford edu article on Einstein’s Spacetime Theory. As a society, we seem to have fallen into a collective pattern: we place strict boundaries on our time based entirely on the mechanical progress we make; driving to work, cleaning the house, rushing through errands. Every single task is given a strict checklist window.

The mental process of setting our personal parameters:
I will drive to work: 35 minutes. Kids’ program: 1 hour and 10 minutes. We even map out the exact 15 minutes needed to swing by the store for those expensive convenience snacks, and the 10 minutes to get home.
When every block fits perfectly, we inhale the sweet smell of success of arriving on time. Everything was managed perfectly; we timed the world just right. The parameters held and the schedule didn’t break. We earned the right to finally plop down in our comfy chairs.
But what do we actually do with that hard-won, tightly boxed peace?
We consciously, fully aware, and willingly lose everything we just saved in time. A complete and literal surrender! We hand that hard-earned stillness right over to the glowing screens in exchange for a foggy head. The time we fought so desperately to compress and save is instantly leaked into a digital void, where it is mixed with the Pixel Dust. The very devices we look to for unwinding end up soaking up not just our evenings but our vital energy.
Time and Space Checklists
This cycle exposes a continuous question that creeps through the mind: could it be we are literally setting boundaries on our time, which ultimately affects our very version of time?

Many of us are noticing that time simply does not feel the same lately. You might look back and feel like the last three weeks have only been a matter of days. Or, conversely, you might sit down to write, look up at the clock, and realize four hours have vanished while you were still working through the first paragraph. It can feel completely mind-boggling.
Yet, when we look even further, we can see the beautiful parallelism of time and space. The realization is that we take up physical space, which also takes up time.
When you are operating from a checklist mind, you are constantly measuring the boundaries of time, which makes the clock feel heavy and rigid. But when you switch focus to an idea, to the act of creation, you step out of the clock and into a dedicated space. A space that allows you to look without measuring the ticks of a watch.
Perhaps this is why artists, creators, and inventors completely lose track of the hours, and it never fazes them. In their shared space and time, that energy wasn’t lost at all. It was simply occupied in the act of bringing something new into the world.
True wellness isn’t about becoming a more efficient time-manager for a machine-like schedule, nor is it about rushing through life just to trade your peace for a foggy mind. It is about recognizing when to step away from the checklist and allow yourself to fully occupy a creative space. A place where time is never lost, but beautifully lived.
