There is an art to planting and gardening, one that is difficult to define to perfection. Searching to discover what pieces of nature can sit side-by-side, and coexist for full bloom potential. Combined with the perfect patterns, shapes, and heights, to surround ourselves with a moment of peace and serenity.
Sunday Sip > The Crimson Pomegranate Spritzer
In honor of the gorgeous pomegranates beginning to bloom on the trail today, this week’s Sunday Sip is a refreshing, vibrant drink perfect for sipping on the porch while you tackle the crossword puzzle.
Ingredients:
2 oz Pure pomegranate Juice (for that deep, vibrant color)
1 oz Freshly squeezed lime juice
4 oz Sparkling water or club soda
A splash of simple syrup (or agave) to sweeten
Fresh mint leaves and lime wheel for garnish
Instructions:
Fill a glass with ice. Pour in the pomegranate juice, lime juice, and sweetener, stirring gently. Top it off with sparkling water and slap a few mint leaves to release the aroma before dropping them in.
Early morning walk
On my walk through the neighborhood this morning, the green had absolutely sprung. I passed yards with sculptures sculpted to their owners’ unique character, and one caught my eye. There was a lovely center stage featuring Lantana.
A note on Lantanas: while beautiful, it can be toxic to local wildlife and pets if ingested. Yet it still has a calming effect just by the sheer act of visualizing what defines our serenity.
A Guest Appearance from Stephen
As I was admiring the blooms, I got a pleasant surprise visit from Stephen the Roadrunner (yes, I named him!). He hopped right up in front of me, strutted his stuff across the yard, and jumped on the fence post. He stopped, turned his head, and stared at me for this photo.
