As children, we learn in the library, which continues its vast wisdom throughout all phases of life. The hours of sitting still only to find ourselves falling in love with reading. Rummaging through the card index to find that one name, that one title. Searching through all the shelves until it’s found. The smell of the old books can open the brain with delight (some are a little smelly, but oh what a wonderful story – it’s worth it.
Today, much of our reading happens on screens. Articles, novels, magazines, and stories arrive instantly with just a click. Yet the experience remains the same as they continue to capture our attention. Whether it’s in hand or on screen, there is something raw, something real, about the magic of reading.
On a rainy afternoon or during the quiet hours at sunset, there is still nothing quite like settling into a comfortable chair and becoming absorbed in the storyline as we dance with the words on the page, making the outside world disappear.
